Magnetic Filters
Here at Union Plumbing and Heating we recommend installing a magnetic filter after every power flush and with all new boilers to protect your system from long term damage, The Magnetic filter is connected to the return pipe of the boiler and stops the sludge from entering the boiler, This in turn saves the heat exchanger from being blocked and can actually save you money.
In recent years there has been some major improvements to the filters and they now provide magnetic and non-magnetic filtration, designed to tackle all central heating systems, removing virtually 100% of suspended magnetic debris.
The benefits of a magnetic filter are immediate:
|
Effective magnetic and efficient non-magnetic filtration |
|
Simple installation and effortless servicing saving time and money |
|
Immediate results & system protection cutting heating energy bills
by up to 6% a year* |
|
Reduced carbon emissions |
|
Less boiler breakdowns, saving you time and money. |
So which one to choose?
There are several different brands but there are a few things you need to know first:
-
What size is the pipe work 22mm or 28mm? This is usually written on the joints/ elbows of the pipe work or can be measured with a tape measure.
-
Where will it be fitted? You will need around 150mm of straight pipe work to fit the magnetic filter onto, sometimes this will be by the boiler or it can also be in the airing cupboard.
